About

Constitution

To provide assistance during the Christmas season to any disadvantaged person or family in the former Loughborough Township.

To provide emergency relief throughout the year where applicable and where funding permits.

How do we determine if a need is genuine

Each fall, the Loughborough Christmas and Emergency Relief Committee reaches out to previous recipients to assess their current needs. We rely on the honesty of our clients to provide accurate information regarding their circumstances. In situations where we have concerns about whether assistance is warranted, we will work with the client to better understand their situation and determine appropriate next steps.

If, for any reason, we are unable to offer direct assistance, we will refer the client to other organizations that may be able to help.

The committee’s operating funds are generously provided by donors within our community each year. It is therefore essential that these funds are allocated to benefit those who are genuinely in need of assistance. Our goal is to ensure that every dollar is used to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our community members.

How do we define Emergency Relief

The Loughborough Christmas and Emergency Relief Committee provides financial assistance to meet the unforeseen needs of individuals affected by accidents, fires, illnesses, or natural disasters. This relief is intended to be short-term and immediate, addressing the crisis at hand, but not any long-term challenges that may arise from it.

It is neither the intent nor the function of this fund to replace the responsibilities of social service agencies at any level of government.

A member of the LC&ERC will follow up with clients to gather further information regarding their request for financial assistance. We are committed to offering a hand-up, not a hand-out. Clients must be willing to work with us to ensure a successful long-term outcome.
